Bhubaneswar: Although there is a fall in the daily COVID-19 cases in Odisha in the last 24 hours, the number of deaths continued to remain high with another 66 patients from 10 districts succumbing to the infection taking the state’s toll to 6501 on Monday.
The Health and Family Welfare Department has clarified that the list of fatalities is the details of past deaths for which the death audit process has been duly completed and the cause of death has been identified as due to COVID-19.
Among the deceased, Khurda district has the highest 29 fatalities followed by 13 from Cuttack, 8 from Sambalpur, 7 from Bargarh, 3 from Balangir, 2 from Nuapada and one each from Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Sonepur and Sundargarh.
In terms of the total number of deaths, Khurda district has the highest 1315 deaths followed by Sundargarh (558), Ganjam (461), Cuttack (441), Puri (399), Bargarh (305), Angul (272), Mayurbhanj (226), Kalahandi (202), Balasore (213), Sambalpur (194), Rayagada (160), Jharsuguda (166), Nayagarh (155), Kendrapada (151), Keonjhar (143), Dhenkanal (131), Balangir (111), Jagatsinghpur (106) and Boudh (106).
