Bhubaneswar: Another Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) MK-III was inducted into the Indian Coast Guard at the Coast Guard Air Enclave in Odisha’s capital on Tuesday, ANI reported. It’s the 15th ALH MK-III to join the Coast Guard fleet.
The ALH MK-III squadron was commissioned at the Coast Guard Air Enclave in Bhubaneswar in April this year to boost maritime security.
The ALH MK-III is a state-of-the-art machine, equipped with full glass cockpit, high-intensity searchlight, traffic collision avoidance system (TCAS), search-and-rescue homer and modern surveillance radar/ electro-optical equipment, allowing it to undertake long-range maritime reconnaissance and long-range search and rescue, both by day and night. The helicopter is also equipped with a heavy machine gun and a removable Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) for MEDEVAC missions.
