Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance, while probing disproportionate assets allegedly amassed by Raja Kishore Jena, Assistant Engineer of R&B Division- III in Bhubaneswar, has brought another Asst Engineer under scanner due to joint property ownership.
During investigation, it came to light that Jena and his colleague Ashok Kumar Panda, another Asst. Engineer of the same R&B Division-III, Bhubaneswar, had jointly purchased a flat at Cosmopolis in Khandagiri area of Bhubaneswar in the names of their wives.
As they were having close financial dealings and joint acquisition of properties, it was decided to conduct search of the house of Ashok Kumar Panda located at Flat No. H-164, 16th Floor, Tower-H, Cosmopolis, Bhubaneswar.
On Tuesday, when the Vigilance search team reached at Flat No. H-164, 16th Floor, Tower-H, Cosmopolis, Bhubaneswar of Panda, they found the apartment was locked from outside. Efforts to contact Panda were also not fruitful as his mobile was switched off.
Later, in the night, after completion of search of the other places, when the Vigilance team decided to seal the house of Panda, they found that Panda had concealed himself and his entire family (wife, son, daughter) inside the Flat, by locking it from outside.
On realizing that the house was getting sealed, Panda finally presented himself before the Vigilance Team by opening the door from within.
Today, in daylight, a bag was found hanging under the window of the house of Shri Panda which he admitted to have thrown out to evade detection. The bag was recovered in presence of witnesses and the following was recovered from the same;
1. Cash of Rs.1,00,000/-
2. Silver coin weighing about 10gm.
3. Gold ornaments weighing about 60gm.
4. Original ROR
5. Apple I-phone of Sri Panda.
6. Vehicle key and other papers.
Today, searches are being conducted at the locations of Panda. During searches, the following assets owned by Panda and his family have been unearthed so far;
1. 2 Shops No.23A & 106, Utkal Kanika Galleria, Kalpana, Bhubaneswar.
2. Shop No.22, Symphony Mall, Rudrapur, Pahal, Bhubaneswar.
3. Four storied building at Somnath Nagar, Bhubaneswar.
4. Three storied building vide House No.LIV-356, Dumduma Housing Board Colony, Bhubaneswar.
5. Flat No. H-164, 16th Floor, Tower-H, Cosmopolis, Bhubaneswar.
6. Volks Wagen Polo car bearing registration No.OD 02 T-8607
7. Postal Deposit of Rs.17,00,000/- in three accounts.
Further, in connection with the assets unearthed against Raja Kishore Jena, AE, during ongoing searches, Jena is being examined to ascertain the source of funds.
