Another Air Asia Flight Makes Emergency Landing For Bird-Hit At Bhubaneswar Airport

Bhubaneswar: Another Air Asia flight made an emergency landing at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar reportedly due to bird-hit on Thursday.

According to sources, the Air Asia flight I5-1563 took off from Bhubaneswar airport for Bengaluru at scheduled time around 7 pm. While the flight was air-borne, it suffered the bird strike.

Captain Meraj Yusha, who was travelling in the flight and seated in 1F seat, found the bird strike and informed the cabin crew. The aircraft had to orbit for 25 minutes to burn the fuel before making a safe landing at the BPIA.

On landing, the aircraft was checked by the ground and technical staff at the airport. They found that 4 fan blades of the engine had been broken. As a result, the plane was grounded, the sources said.

Total 173 passengers were on board the flight and captain M Dipak was its pilot.

It may be noted that a Pune-bound Air Asia flight had made emergency landing after take-off from BPIA due to bird-hit on March 2.

After a thorough checking, the technical staff did not detect any major damages to the aircraft. Following clearance from the technical staff, the flight took off after nearly 2 hours.
