Bhubaneswar: In another incident of burglary in Bhubaneswar, looters struck at an apartment in Bomikhal area and decamped with gold ornaments as well as cash of a woman.
According to sources, the miscreants took away the woman’s wedding ring, and four gold earrings when she had gone to office. They also took away Rs 16,000 cash that she had withdrawn for some personal work.
The fresh incident took place close on the heels of loot in which a scientist lost over half one kg of gold ornaments from his luxurious apartment in the Chandaka area of the capital city.
The burglars have been targeting houses when the occupants are normally away in office.
In the fresh incident, the woman, identified as S Triveni, locked her flat and left for the office at around 10 am. Taking advantage of her absence, the looters broke the lock and entered her house around noon and looted all her belongings.
Sources said the burglars specifically targeted gold items and cash, leaving other valuables untouched. The loot appeared to be the handiwork of professional burglars as they broke the house lock using some sophisticated tool.
On being informed about the incident, a team from Shaheed Nagar police station visited the spot and launched a probe.
