Bhubaneswar: Barely 24 hours after an apartment was looted in Bhubaneswar, burglars struck again and decamped with valuables from two flats Mancheswar area of the capital city.
Miscreants looted gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees from two flats in a housing complex located under the jurisdiction of Mancheswar police station in the city on Wednesday night.
The theft has been captured in the CCTV cameras installed in apartment complex. As per reports, two masked miscreants carrying weapons were seen entering the apartment late in the night. The exact number of robbers involved in the crime is yet to be ascertained.
The miscreants targeted two flats which were locked as the occupants were away from the city. They broke the locks and decamped with valuables, mostly jewellery.
On being informed, a police team visited the spot and launched an investigation into the incident. They are analysing the CCTV footage and have launched a manhunt.
Notably, burglars have been targeting apartments over the last couple of months. In an attempt to nab the miscreants, the Commissionerate Police had pasted images of suspected looters at different locations, particularly at crowded places last month. The images were derived from the CCTV footages collected from the targeted apartments.
On Tuesday night, miscreants targeted the Kalyan Heights apartment at Bhimpur under Pahala police station in the city. They looted three flats in the apartment which were locked as their occupants were away.
The fresh loot incidents took place though the Commissionerate Police had busted an inter-state gang on January 18 by arresting its two members.
