Nayagarh: A newborn boy went missing from the Community Health Centre CHC) at Rajsunakhala in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Saturday.
As per sources, Sudhismita Parida of Godabhanga village was admitted to the hospital by her husband Bijay Parida on Friday after she complained of labour pain. The woman gave birth to a baby boy on Saturday morning.
However, the newborn disappeared soon after delivery. When her family members arrived, the baby was found missing.
Following the development, Bijay and his wife lodged a complaint at the local police station alleging that the baby was stolen from the hospital.
Holding the hospital authorities responsible for the incident, Bijay said, “We were not allowed to see the baby after birth. When we asked the hospital staff, they said the baby was taken for treatment. Thereafter, he could not be found.”
Based on the complaint lodged by the couple, the police reached the spot and collected the CCTV footage to ascertain under what circumstances the baby was stolen. Police are also questioning the hospital staff.
It may be noted that a similar incident was reported at VIMSAR in Burla in Sambalpur district.
