Baripada: In yet another road accident in Odisha, the driver of a truck died after the iron ore-laden vehicle overturned after crashing into the guard wall on the highway in Bangiriposi area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Sunday.
The mishap took place at a time when the state is observing ‘Zero Fatality Week.’ The accident took place when the truck rammed into the guard wall and overturned while moving through Duarasuni ghati on the National Highway No. 18, sources said.
While the driver of the truck died on the spot, his helper sustained critical injuries in the mishap. He was rescued and rushed to Bangiriposi hospital for treatment.
The truck was proceeding to Kolkata from Keonjhar when the driver lost control over the wheels and the vehicle crashed and overturned. The body of the driver trapped under the vehicle was recovered by fire services personnel and sent for postmortem.
