Bargarh: In yet another incident of alleged suicide by a debt-ridden farmer, Indrajit Bariha of Malamunda village under Gaisilet block in Bargarh district ended his life on Thursday by consuming poison.
According to reports, he was immediately rushed to Padmapur hospital and later shifted to the district headquarters hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
Bariha’s wife Tulasi said he took the extreme step after failing to repay a loan amount of Rs 1 lakh taken from some money lenders to raise crops on his five acre of land.
On October 16, Soumendra Mohanty of Ramrahimpur village under Basudevpur block in the district had committed suicide by consuming poison in a paddy field near his house due to crop loss and loan burden.
