Another Inmate Found HIV-Positive At Jharpada Jail In Bhubaneswar; Total Cases Rise To 9



Bhubaneswar: Another prisoner has tested positive for HIV in the high-security Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar, taking the total number of HIV-infected inmates in the prison


complex to nine.

According to information, the accused was arrested by Khandagiri police on Thursday and was forwarded to court. He was later sent to Jharpada Jail for judicial custody.

As per standard jail protocol, the new entrant underwent a mandatory health check-up and medical screening. During this screening, the inmate tested positive for HIV.

Earlier, eight prisoners in the jail were already identified as HIV positive. With the new case, the total has now increased to nine.

Jail authorities informed that the newly detected HIV-positive inmate, like others, will receive proper medical treatment, counselling, and regular health monitoring as per the guidelines issued by the State Health Department.

Regular health check-ups and awareness programmes are also being continued inside the jail premises.
