Another Leopard Spotted Inside Sunabeda Sanctuary In Odisha’s Nuapada

Nuapada: A month after a leopard, which had reportedly killed two persons, was captured, another big cat has been spotted inside Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary in Odisha’s Nuapada district.

According to sources, a group of youths belonging to Taraboda in Komna block of the district had gone to perform puja in the temple of Maa Sunadei, the presiding deity of Sunabeda, on Saturday morning. While they were returning home in a vehicle in the afternoon, they spotted the leopard coming close to the road.

Panicked by sudden sight of the leopard, the youths closed the window glasses of the vehicle and capture the video of the wild animal in their mobile phone camera. However, the young leopard was disturbed by the sound of the vehicle and fled. The video of the leopard in the forest that was uploaded in the social media has gone viral.

The locals suspected that since it was a young leopard, its mother must be around somewhere in the forest. They have informed the Forest department in this regard, the sources said.

It may be noted that a leopard had reportedly killed a seven-year-old boy while playing in his village Godhaspara inside the Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary on October 30. A 45-year-old woman of Silaribahara village adjoining the sanctuary was found dead in the leopard attack in the forest on November 3.

The big cat also attacked an eight-year-old boy in Kodopali village while he was playing in front of his house on November 4. However, the Forest officials managed to capture the leopard on November 5.
