Another Manipur Shocker: Video Of Man’s Chopped Head Surfaces

Imphal: Days after a video of two women being paraded naked by a mob in Manipur shook up the nation, another horrific video from the troubled north-eastern state has surfaced online.

The new video shows the chopped head of a Kuki man, identified as David Thiek, placed on a fence made of bamboo sticks in a residential area in Bishnupur district, India Today NE reported.

Thiek was reportedly killed on July 2 during ongoing clashes between the majority Meitei community, concentrated in Imphal valley, and tribal Kukis, who mainly occupy the hills. Three people lost their lives that day. In all, about 150 people have died so far from early May when ethnic strife broke out.

The video of naked women being paraded – an incident that took place in May — has sparked outrage and disbelief all around. Four people, including the man believed to be the primary suspect, were arrested on Thursday, a day after the video surfaced.

There has been fresh tension in Manipur ever since the video of naked women surfaced on Wednesday, as protests erupted in several places against the heinous act.

An agitated mob set on fire the house of 32-year-old Herodas, the main suspect, in the early hours of Friday.
