Cuttack: A couple days after a man was fined for allowing a minor ride a motorbike in Angul, a similar incident was reported from Baranga, on the outskirts of Cuttack, on Tuesday.
According to sources, a 17-year-old boy was caught riding a two-wheeler during a checking against traffic rules violation. Following which, the Transport Magistrate slapped a fine of Rs 26,000 on his father, Mangaraj Parida of Baranga.
The owner of vehicle has been identified as Kailash Rout of Gothapur in Baranga. The minor boy was riding the vehicle without helmet and also failed to produce driving licence.
The challan was issued under 194D (riding without helmet by driver and pillion) and 199A (2) (offences by juveniles) of the Motor Vehicle Act 2019, the sources added.
“For offence committed by a juvenile, his/her parents will be prosecuted and fines will be imposed upon the them under provision in Section 199 of the Motor Vehicles Act,” Cuttack RTO Dipti Ranjan Patra said.
