Another Minor ‘Raped’,  Accused Held

Angul: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Pallahara area of Angul district on Friday.

According to sources, the incident took place when the child had gone to an agricultural field to graze her cattle.  A youth allegedly took her to an isolated area and raped her.

The girl’s family members lodged a complaint at Khamara police station and the accused was taken into custody.

It was on Thursday that the body of a minor girl, reported missing from her house since Monday, was recovered from Bejengiwada village under Kalimela block, Malkangiri district.

In another case, on May 12, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in Balasore district.  The incident was reported from Anantpur village where the girl had gone to attend a wedding ceremony.

The accused, identified as Manindra Mallick of Purosottampur village, was reportedly arrested.
