Another Minor Raped In Salepur

Salepur: As the state continues to simmer in the wake of the incidents of horrific rapes of minors, another 6-year-old girl was allegedly brutally raped at Jagannathpur village under Salepur block of Cuttack district on Saturday night.

Irked over the incident, a group of locals blocked Kajihata-Raisunguda road by burning tyres demanding strict action against the culprit and adequate compensation to the victim’s family.

The victim’s family members have lodged a complaint at Salepur police station alleging that she was raped and an attempt was made to kill her as blood was oozing out from her mouth.

Police have detained a person of the same for interrogation in connection with the incident.

According to the complaint, the girl had gone to buy chocolates from a nearby shop around 6 pm when power went-off in the locality. As she did not return home for a long, the family members started looking for her. She was rescued from a school verandah after three youths informed the family about her around 7:30 pm.

The child was then rushed to Salepur Community Health Centre for treatment. She was later shifted to the ICU of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as her condition deteriorated.
