Bhubaneswar: Yet another nonagenarian won the battle against COVID-19 and was discharged from SUM COVID Hospital in Odisha capital on Tuesday.
According to hospital sources, Surath Routray (94) of Puri was admitted to the hospital in a serious condition on July 13 as he had difficulty in breathing and low oxygen saturation level. He also had hypertension and diabetes, besides other ailments related to old age.
He was immediately shifted to the ICU for treatment and responded well to treatment, the sources said.
Family members of the patient praised doctors, nurses and paramedics for taking care and providing proper treatment to the elderly patient.
“We are satisfied with the treatment and the hospital staff kept us informed about his health condition on a regular basis,” said Sulochana Sahu, his daughter-in-law.
A large number of COVID-19 patients in their 80’s and 90’s with co-morbidities have recovered in the hospital ever since it was set up in collaboration with the state government, the sources added.
