Bhubaneswar: The number of BJD MLAs infected by COVID-19 in Odisha touched 23 on Wednesday with Nabarangpur MLA Sadasiva Pradhani testing positive for the virus.
His wife Kaushalya has also contracted the infection.
Informing the media, Pradhani said he had undergone the COVID test recently after having flu symptoms and the test report was found to be positive.
Stating that he and his wife are now under home isolation, the MLA has asked the people, who have come in contact with him, to undergo the test.
Apart from Pradhani, Laxmipur MLA Prabhu Jani, Anandpur MLA Bhagirathi Sethy, Khandapada MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, Basudevpur MLA Bishnubrata Routray, Bhubaneswar North MLA Susant Rout, Bhubaneswar Central MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, Berhampur MLA Bikram Panda, Chandbali MLA Byomakesh Ray, former Badamba MLA Debi Prasad Mishra, Pottangi MLA Pritam Padhi, Bhadrak MLA Sanjib Mallick, Bari MLA Sunanda Das, Polasara MLA Srikant Sahu, Remuna MLA Sudhanshu Shekhar Parida, Jagatsinghpur MLA Prasanta Muduli , Selapur MLA Prasant Behera have also tested positive for the virus.
Besides, four BJD ministers Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi, Susanta Singh, Arun Kumar Sahu and Padmini Dian and two MPs Ramesh Majhi (Nabarangpur) and Manjulata Mandal (Bhadrak) have also tested positive.
