Another Odisha MP Writes To Centre To Facilitate Continuation Of Medical Studies Of Ukraine-Returned Students

Bhubaneswar: Another BJD MP has appealed to the Centre to take steps for helping the students, who have returned from war-torn Ukraine without completing their medical studies, to complete their courses.

In a letter to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday, Rajya Sabha member Prasanna Acharya said these students were forced to leave their studies midway in Ukraine due to unexpected circumstances after Russia declared war on the eastern European country.

Stating that normalcy is unlikely to return in near future, Acharya said the students cannot return to that country to resume their studies. Since it would out their future and career at stake, the Union Health Ministry should consider it as an extra-ordinary case and take steps accordingly.

He requested the Minister to make special arrangements for them by amending the present regulations, if necessary, for their admission to medical colleges in the country at the course level they were pursuing in Ukraine.

The MP also said the Ministry should analyse the reasons for which such a large number of Indian students are going to Ukraine for pursuing medical education there instead of doing it in India.

Earlier, Kandhamal MP Achyuta Samanta had appealed to the Centre to facilitate continuation of the medical education of Ukraine-returned students in the medical colleges in the country.
