New Delhi: In another SoS, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote to his counterparts in other states and Union territories requesting for surplus of oxygen to be sent as the Indian Capital gasps for breath in its battle to treat critically ill COVID-19 patients.
“I am writing to all CMs requesting them to provide oxygen to Delhi, if they have spare. Though Central govt is also helping us, the severity of corona is such that all available resources are proving inadequate,” he wrote on Twitter.
The chief minister’s office said in a statement that Kejriwal had asked his counterparts if oxygen could be sent to the national capital, along with tankers, from their state or any organisation in their state.

The CM informed other states that Delhi does not produce any oxygen, and due to the unprecedented rise in COVID-19 cases in the last few days, many hospitals in the city have run out of the critical element.
“Daily supplies of oxygen to Delhi are woefully short of requirements,” he said for the umpteenth time.
Even the Delhi high court said that there should be no obstruction in the supply of oxygen.
Earlier in the day, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Harsh Vardhan said that Delhi was being given more oxygen than they asked for, and it’s “upto AAP government to rationalise.”
The latest plea comes on a day when 20 patients at a hospital in Rohini passed away due to a shortage of oxygen.

It’s such a pathetic situation as the helpless capital of the world’s most populous city faces a medical and healthcare emergency of humongous proportions. Countries like China have offered to help, and even none-too-friendly neighbour Pakistan has stood beside India.
With the Centre not being able to provide adequate help, it’s time perhaps for the Narendra Modi to consider the assistance being offered, forgetting everything else.
