Bhubaneswar: Odisha DGP Dr RP Sharma on Thursday placed Lingaraj Lenka, inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Parjang police station in Dhenkanal district, under suspension for alleged gross misconduct, carelessness and negligence in submitting status report pertaining to a Criminal Misc Case despite repeated instructions.
During the period of suspension, Lenka will remain under the disciplinary control of DIG of Police, North Central Range, Talcher, the DGP ordered.
Sharma further instructed SP Dhenkanal to conduct a thorough inquiry into the negligence and submit draft charge, memo of evidence including inquiry report and relevant documents against the IIC at State Police Hdqrs through Range DIGP for initiating disciplinary proceeding against him.
One Satyabhama Nayak had filed a Criminal Misc Case in the court of SDJM, Angul, against her husband Himansu Sekhar Sahoo for not releasing the maintenance amount. Due to non-execution of NBW and DW by IIC Parjang, the petitioner again filed a writ petition in the High Court.
Later the petitioner filed criminal misc-petition vide CRLMP NO-1320 Dated 3.11.2015 in the High Court for inaction of police against Dhenkanal SP and IIC Parjang.
It was found that IIC Lenka was careless and non-serious in implementing the orders of court as well as non-submitting the status report of the case in the office of Advocate General.
As prime facie evidence was established and a departmental proceeding was being contemplated, Lenka was suspended.
