Another Record Spike In COVID-19 Cases In Odisha’s Koraput, 54 Infected By Previous Patients

Jeypore: With a record 97 new positive cases in the last 24 hours, the COVID-19 tally in Koraput district surged to 1490 on Thursday.

This is for the second time that the district witnessed such a surge in positive cases after August 3.

Of the new cases, 54 are direct contact of previous patients. While 39 are local contact cases, the remaining four have travel history to Andhra Pradesh, Kalahandi, and Rayagada.

The highest of 22 cases have been reported from Koraput municipality, followed by 17 from Bandhugaon block, eight each from Jeypore and Koraput block, six each from Dasmantput, Kotpad, and Laxmipur, five each from Borigumma and Semiliguda, three from Jeypore municipality, two each from Pottangi and Sunabeda and one from Melibelgaon, the district administration tweeted.

With two deaths and 958 recoveries, Kandhamal now has 530 active cases.
