Bhubaneswar: Another senior journalist succumbed to COVID-19 in Odisha on Friday.
The journalist working for vernacular daily ‘Sambad’, Debendra Samantaray was admitted to hospital following illness, He had tested positive for COVID-19 and was undergoing treatment for the disease.
Samantaray, who was edition-in-charge of the Sambalpur edition of the newspaper breathed his last on Friday night. He was also DGM, Eastern Media Limited.
Earlier in the day, veteran journalist Adwaita Prasad Biswal died of COVID-19 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Rourkela.
With the death of Samantaray and Biswal, the state has lost 9 journalists during the second wave of the pandemic.
