Bhubaneswar: Jajpur’s Maa Biraja temple is set to get a new look like other heritage sites of the state.
As per sources, the state government has drawn up a lucrative project to give a makeover to the Biraja Shati Peetha like Maa Samaleswari temple in Sambalpur.
The project plan also includes the 54 Shiva temples, Mukti mandap, Dola mandap, Ananda bazar and other spiritual basements in and around the temple premises.
A primary allocation of Rs 6.5 crore has been made by the Culture department which will be utilised for construction of temple administration building, renovation of Mukti mandap, Mola mandap and prasad shops with modern amenities.
The blue print of the temple’s new look has been submitted to the district administration and a detailed project report has been finalised as well as approved by the government.
It may be mentioned here that in December last year, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had written to the Odisha Chief Minister to bring Maa Biraja Temple in Jajpur, Maa Samaleswari Temple in Sambalpur, Maa Tara Tarini Temple in Ganjam and Shri Nilamadhaba temple in Nayagarh under the legislative guidelines along the lines of Shri Jagannath Temple Act, 1955 and Shri Lingaraj Temple Ordinance, 2020.
