Bhubaneswar: The number of new COVID-19 cases in the Odisha capital surged past 70 on Monday with 75 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
The daily caseload had dropped to 38 on Sunday from 71 on Saturday.
According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 62 of the fresh cases are local contacts and 13 from quarantine.
Among the local contacts, the highest of eight cases have been reported from Nayapalli, followed by seven from Khandagiri.

The last 24 hours also saw 15 patients recovering from the infection.
With 32,731 recoveries and 250 deaths, the city now has 487 active cases.
