Balangir: Police on Thursday seized the body of a Plus III second-year Commerce student of Rajendra University, who was found hanging in his rented accommodation at Shantapada here last night.
The deceased has been identified as Ramanikanta Kheti of Ulunda village in Sonepur district.
According to sources, his friends, who are staying nearby, informed police after they found him hanging. While the body has been sent for postmortem, a scientific team has been pressed into service to assist in the investigation.
“We have quizzed the landlord and a few of his friends. The postmortem report will shed light on the exact cause of his death. We will also be examining his phone records,” said a police officer.
Ramanikanta’s family suspect it to be a case of murder. They alleged that he was killed by some miscreants, who later hanged the body to pass it off as a case of suicide.
