Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 tally in Odisha surged to 81,479 on Monday with 2,949 new cases reported overnight. This was the second-highest single-day spike in positive cases in the state.
Of the new cases reported from all 30 districts, 1,826 were detected in quarantine centres and 1123 were local contact cases, the I&PR Department informed.
Cuttack led the tally with 589 cases, followed by Khurda (474), Jajpur (215), Koraput (181), Ganjam (179), Mayurbhanj (156), Rayagada (143), Sambalpur (104), Nayagarh (93), Balasore (88), Puri (86), Sundargarh (81), Malkangiri (78), Bhadrak (66), Bargarh (62), Balangir (57), Kendrapada (56), Jagatsinghpur (51), Kandhamal (34),30 each in Keonjhar and Kalahandi, 26 each in Nabarangpur and Sonepur, Jharsuguda (20), Dhenkanal (13), Gajapatri (3), two each in Deogarh and Nuapada and Angul (1).
With 419 deaths and 54,405 recoveries so far, Odisha now has 26,602 active cases.
