Boudh: Another teacher of a government school has been suspended for allegedly participating in an election meeting of a political party in Odisha’s Boudh district.

According to sources, district election officer and collector of Boudh has issued suspension order to assistant teacher Rohiteswar Mallik of Government Upper Primary School at Baulasinga under Kantamal block with immediate effect.

The collector issued the suspension order following complaint of violation of model code of conduct during the ensuing Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state.

Mallik had reportedly attended an election meeting of a political party and a photograph in this regard has gone viral in social media. Following this, a complaint was filed with the district election officer.

According to the order of Election Commission of India on March 15, and Odisha Government Servant’s Conduct Rules, 1959, no government servant will be a member of or be otherwise associated with any political or communal party or organisation which takes part in politics or communal activities, nor will he/she take part or subscribe in aid of assist in any other manner, any political or communal movement or activity.

It may be noted that a teacher was suspended and another transferred on this ground earlier in the district.

The collector had suspended assistant teacher Sanghamitra Mallick of government Nodal High School at Dahya as disciplinary action on April 13. She was found participating in a political rally taken out from Palaspat to Ambagaon in Kantamal Assembly constituency in the district in violation of model code of conduct.
