Bhubaneswar: There seems to be no end to the twists and turns in the mysterious death of Parlakhemundi Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Soumya Rajan Mohapatra, who succumbed to burns on July 13.
While the ACP’s family accused his wife Bidyabharati Panda of having an extramarital affair, the latter has alleged that her husband was unfaithful in the marriage.
“He once received a call from an unknown number and used earphones for the telephonic conversation. I could hear a woman from the other end asking him why he was not staying in touch with her,” said Bidyabharati.
Saumya had also texted ‘I Love You’ to someone in Whatsapp chat, she said.
Bidyabharati further alleged that he changed the password of his mobile phone when she learnt about his relationship three months after the marriage. “He also deleted his Facebook account and used to clear call history and chats on the device,” she said.
The widow of the dead forest officer, however, expressed ignorance about the unsigned agreement paper, in which Saumya had purportedly declared his wife as the sole claimant of his property and salary.
“Contrary to the allegation by my in-laws, I never went to the residence of Gajapati DFO after a dispute with my husband,” she added.
