Washington: Two wars are already underway on our planet, while a third one seems inevitable.
What is our world headed to?
After Bloomberg reported that US intelligence officials have information that a “high-precision” missile strike on Israel is imminent, Joe Biden warned Iran not to launch.
Tehran is believed to be serious about a retaliation after a strike in Syria killed senior Iranian generals.
Biden assured that the US was committed to safeguard Israel’s security.
“We also want to address the Iranian threat… they’re threatening to launch a significant attack in Israel. As I told Prime Minister (Benjamin) Netanyahu, our commitment to Israel’s security against these threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad. Let me say it again, ironclad… we will do all we can to protect Israel’s security,” Biden said at a press conference in Washington.
The attack against Israel, involving “high-precision missiles or drones”, could target government sites, according to Bloomberg. The attack could come from Iran or its proxies in the region.
On Wednesday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reiterated that Israel should be punished for the attack in Damascus on April 1, killing a top Iranian commander and other officials of Iranian Armed Forces’ Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Fearing a spiralling of situation, Germany’s Lufthansa airline has announced cancellation of flights to and from Tehran due to the “current situation in the Middle East.”
Israeli PM Netanyahu said on Thursday his country is continuing its war in Gaza and also preparing for scenarios in other areas.
“We are preparing to meet the security needs of the State of Israel both in defence and attack,” he said.
Israeli military has been on “heightened” alert for possible attacks from Iran. Israeli Defence Forces have boosted air defences, jamming GPS and cancelling leave for soldiers in combat units.
