Dhaka: India on Thursday shut visa centres at two locations in Bangladesh after pro-Yunus groups protested outside the Indian High Commission, according to a report published by Firstpost. On Wednesday, Protesters attempted to march towards Indian diplomatic missions in multiple Bangladeshi cities amid anti-India sentiments, reported OpIndia.
This comes after the Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Bangladeshi High Commissioner in New Delhi. The envoy was summoned after a Bangladeshi political leader’s provocative statements against India.
Reports claimed Indian Visa Application Centres (IVACs) in Rajshahi and Khulna were closed on Thursday. Protesters reportedly clashed with police.

In Rajshahi, protesters organised under the banner “Bharityo Adhipotto Birodhi July 36 Mancha” (Anti-Indian Hegemony July 36 Platform) began a march from Bhadra Mor towards the Assistant High Commission of India, an OpIndia report states.
The report, quoting Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, stated that the cops stopped the protestors and the demands of the protestors had reached the appropriate authorities through the media.
