Anti-Sex Cardboard Beds At Tokyo Olympic Village In Focus!

Tokyo: Organizers of the Tokyo Olympics have their hands full dealing with the COVID-19 situation as new cases are reported among athletes and officials.

But that’s the last thing on long-distance runner Paul Chelimo’s mind. The Kenya-born American athlete is worried because beds in the Olympic Village are made out of cardboard.

Chelimo, 5000m silver-medallist in the 2016 Rio Olympics, said these beds have been designed to ensure that athletes avoid intimacy in the rooms of Olympic Village.

According to reports, each of these ‘anti-sex’ beds can accommodate weight up to 200 kg, and will not be able to withstand any sudden movement. Once the Games are over, the beds will be recycled into paper products.

Chelimo took to Twitter to explain his point in great depth, saying that he can’t be sleeping on cardboard after flying business Polaris and will have to start practising how to sleep on the floor.

The fact that Tokyo organizers will be ‘gifting’ condoms to participants as souvenirs once they leave the Games Village only goes to show they don’t want athletes to get intimate.

The 2020 summer Olympics, which got postponed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held from July 23 to August 8, 2021.
