Mumbai: The makers of ‘Border 2’ recently dropped a teaser of the song ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’, a redux version of the song ‘Sadese Aate Hai’, recreated by Mithoon with additional lyrics from Manoj Muntashir.
Soon after the teaser was dropped, senior music composer Anu Malik, who composed the original song ‘Sadese Aate Hai’ demanded credit for the redux version.
Talking about the song, Anu told PTI, “I believe the song is recreated. I’m not a part of it. I’m sure they will give my name to it, as I’ve created the song.”
He continued, “They should because people know about our contribution; they can’t get away. They can’t make Border 2 without Sandese Aate Hai… Both Anu Malik and Javed Akhtar are up there in their contribution, so they will have to put our name somewhere.”
Expressing high hopes for the recreation as Sonu Nigam and Arijit Singh collaborate on the song, Anu shared, “I think it is going to be brilliant because Sonu is a fabulous singer. He is one of the best singers that we have today, and Arijit is a magical singer.”
He added, “It will be a magical combination of Arijit and Sonu together, but the tune is going to be Anu Malik. You can’t get away from Anu Malik and Javed Sahab; the song he has written is so great.”
Besides Sonu and Arijit, the song will also feature vocals of Vishal Mishra and Diljit Dosanjh.
Meanwhile, the original song ‘Sandese Aate Hai’ from ‘Border’ was written by Javed Akhtar, composed by Anu and sung by Sonu and Roopkumar Rathod.
“When I was offered a chance to do this, I gave it all that I had for my love for my country. I believe that there is no country better than India, and I’m not saying it because I am an Indian; I’m not saying other countries are bad,” Anu shared.
Co-written and directed by Anurag Singh, ‘Border 2’ is a sequel to J. P. Dutta’s 1997 blockbuster war drama ‘Border’.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J. P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta, the film stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles and is slated to hit theatres on January 23.
