Bhubaneswar: Even as the Ollywood actors Anubhav Mohanty and Varsha Priyadarshini have filed cases against each other in the courts, Anubhav’s counsel Aswin Kumar Dubey said it is a well-planned political conspiracy on the part of Varsha to tarnish the image of her MP husband.
Though Anubhav filed a divorce petition three months back, he did not divulge it to the media till recently as the dignity, honour and prestige of Varsha was paramount to him, said Dubey in an interview to a local news channel.
Stating that Anubhav wanted the matter to be settled with mutual consent without making it public, the counsel said the actor patiently waited so long though Varsha did not reply to the petition several times during the time.
The very fact that the couple did not have any physical relation for six years since their marriage in 2014 is enough ground for divorce under the Hindu Marriage Act, Dubey said.
Stating that Varsha’s petition alleging domestic violence against her husband is one of the routine cases as it did not have any substance or basis, he wondered how she continued to live in Anubhav’s house so long if she was a victim of domestic violence.
On the reply to Varsha’s petition, he said they are yet to get a copy of it from the court and will decide next course of action after receiving it.
