HC Asks Family Court To Dispose Of Odisha Actor-MP Anubhav Mohanty’s Divorce Plea By October-End

Cuttack: The divorce case of Odia actor-turned-politician Anubhav Mohanty and his wife and actress Varsha Priyadarshini took another legal turn with the Orissa High Court intervening in the matter.

Hearing a petition filed by Anubhav, the High Court on Thursday directed the family court in Cuttack, which is hearing the case, to conclude both sides’ arguments within four weeks and dispose of the case in three months (October-end). It has also been asked to complete cross examination of his estranged wife Varsha Priyadarshini by July 31.

Anubhav had moved the High Court seeking its intervention due to inordinate delay in the hearing on the divorce case in the family court. The matter is pending before the family court here for over two years.

Six years after their marriage in 2014, Anubhav had filed the divorce petition in a Delhi court in 2020. Later, the case was transferred to the family court in Cuttack on the direction of the Supreme Court. Varsha had appealed to the apex court to transfer the case from Delhi to Cuttack on the ground that she was staying in the Odisha city.
