Mumbai: Veteran actor Anupam Shyam breathed his last on Monday following multiple organ failure, his friend actor Yashpal Sharma informed.
The 63-year-old actor was admitted to a city hospital in Mumbai a few days ago for kidney-related issues and was in the intensive care unit.
Anupam was last seen in Mann Kee Awaaz: Pratigya 2. He had received critical acclaim for his role as Thakur in Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya, which aired in 2009 on Star Plus.
Besides TV shows, the actor featured in films like Satya, Dil Se, Lagaan, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Slumdog Millionaire and Bandit Queen.
He had started his film career with Shyam Benegal’s Sardari Begum.
According to media reports, Anupam had collapsed during dialysis at a hospital in July last year and have been keeping unwell for the last six months. Manoj Bajpayee and Sonu Sood had helped the actor and his family when they reached out to actors for financial help for his treatment.
