Anushka Sharma Ready To Bowl Over Audience As ‘Chakda Xpress’ Is All Set To Chug

Kolkata: The ‘Chakda Xpress’ is all set to take to the tracks.

Anushka Sharma, who portrays the role of women’s cricket icon and former India captain Jhulan Goswami, announced the wrap-up of the shooting for the cricket biopic.

The actor-producer posted pictures of the final day of shooting on Instagram and wrote: “It’s a wrap on #ChakdaXpress, and thank you @JhulanGoswami for the final clap to bring an end to the shoot!.”

The pictures show Anushka in a Team India jersey, cutting a cake with director Prosit Roy and Jhulan, and also hugging the director as the entire team claps. In another picture, Jhulan gives the final clap to end the shot.

The Prosit Roy-directed film will be released on OTT platform Netflix.

Shooting of the film, which has significant outdoor schedules, began in June 2022.

Anushka, who underwent extensive training for the film, described why it was a special project.

“It is a really special film because it is essentially a story of tremendous sacrifice. Chakda Xpress is inspired by the life and times of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami and it will be an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket. At a time when Jhulan decided to become a cricketer and make her country proud on the global stage, it was very tough for women to even think of playing the sport. This film is a dramatic retelling of several instances that shaped her life and also women’s cricket,” the actress wrote on Instagram earlier.
