New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: BJP leader and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Tuesday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to share her annual report card and report on health camps being organised by her.
She also discussed with the PM the 375 Jan Aushadi Kendras in Bhubaneswar and thanked Modi for allowing the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
The cancer hospital will come up on the campus of the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) in Bhubaneswar. After reviewing the progress of the Rs 650-crore project last Saturday, Aparajita has urged Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to provide 50 acres for the hospital.
Aparajita informed the CM that the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has agreed to contribute 10-13 acres for the purpose.
Since more land is required for the cancer care project, the Lok Sabha MP requested Naveen to make provision for around 50 acres of adjoining land and launch a convenient public transport system from the Bhubaneswar railway station and airport to the proposed hospital site.
She also urged the CM to take steps for providing electricity supply from Arugul and Mendhasal grid and ensure water supply to the hospital.
The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Tata Trusts have agreed to build the cancer hospital on NISER campus.
The foundation stone for the project is likely to be laid in the next three months. Aparajita said that once work gets started, it can be completed within 18 months.
