Bhubaneswar: BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi has urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to take the initiative for the setting up of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) in Odisha.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, the Bhubaneswar MP said she had taken up the matter with Union Commerce and Industry minister Piyush Goel on July 3.
“As the IIFT has established itself as a prestigious institution in the areas of foreign trade, export, import and trade-related laws, the presence of this institute in Bhubaneswar is bound to give fillip to export initiatives from the state and is also likely to open up additional employment opportunity for young students of Odisha,” Aparajita wrote.
While requesting the Chief Minister to issue appropriate instructions for identifying around five acres of land in the Odisha capital and infrastructure support of Rs 5 crore to expedite the whole process, the parliamentarian added that there are many state governments who have offered land free of cost and infrastructure support grant for ensuring the establishment of a premier academic institute like IIFT in their respective states.
