Bhubaneswar: After the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), the Apollo Hospitals here will become the second medical unit in Odisha to have the coronavirus testing facility.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Thursday approved Apollo Hospitals along with 34 other private laboratories for COVID-19 tests.
Here is the list of private laboratories across the country which have got the ICMR nod:
The Odisha government has also started working on a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla.
VIMSAR Superintendent Jayashree Dora said the feasibility report for setting up of the laboratory was sent to the state government on Wednesday.
The laboratory has been proposed to be set up in the Microbiology Department of VIMSAR at the earliest.
