Berhampur: Following the death of their sole bread-earner, the family of CORONA-19 victim has appealed to the State Government for immediate relief and their rehabilitation.
The victim belonging to Matiasahi village under Madhupali panchayat of Ganjam district was a migrant labourer. On his return from the migrated place, he was accommodated in a quarantine centre.
As he felt uneasy on May 8, the officials arranged an ambulance to take him to MKCG Hospital, but he died on the spot. Suspecting infection of coronavirus, the officials sent his body for post-mortem instead of handing it over to his family. The post-mortem report confirmed that he was corona positive.
The victim’s family is now in desperate condition with nobody to look after them. His wife felt helpless as she has to take care of her four daughters and old mother-in-law.
The poor family is yet to get any financial help from either local administration or State Government, said the sarpanch of Madhupali. Polasara legislator Srikant Sahu had visited the family’s house after the labourer’s death and given Rs 10,000 for immediate expenditure.
