Berhampur: With thousands of medical aspirants appearing at National Entrance and Eligibility Test (NEET) in Berhampur on Sunday, political parties and candidates have been appealed to suspend major rallies and high decibel campaign for dual elections.
Well-known educationist Sudhir Rout said the NEET will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) at 10 centres in and around Berhampur from 2 pm to 5 pm. The candidates have been asked to report at the examination centres by 11 am. The gates of the centres will be closed at 1.30 pm and examination will start at 2 pm.
“The students have been studying hard for the prestigious examination that will determine their professional career. Since the test concerns their future, the political parties and their candidates should refrain from high decibel campaign so that the examinees are able to concentrate on the test,” he said.
Stating that the students may get affected by the blaring public announcement systems used for the campaign, Sudhir appealed to the political parties to suspend the campaigning or bring down the volume of announcement near the examination centres from 2 pm to 5.20 pm.
He also appealed to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for a limited ban on election rally and campaign through loudspeakers to facilitate NEET medical aspirants in different regions throughout the country which goes to poll on Sunday.
“It is a single-level national examination conducted for admission to medical courses across the country. If they are disturbed on the test day, the efforts of many brilliant students will go waste,” said Sudhir.
Sudhir provides coaching to many medical and IIT aspirants free of cost through Aryabhatta Coaching Centre at Courtpeta in Berhampur.
