New Delhi: Apple is finally launching its web store in India from where it can directly sell its products.
The Apple Store Online will become operational in India on September 23.
This facility was not available earlier because of regulations and Apple products were only allowed to be sold via 3rd parties online resellers such as Amazon, Flipkart and others.
CEO Tim Cook has recently been quite vocal about India being a key market for Apple. India is currently the world’s second-largest smartphone market, but it is dominated by OnePlus and Samsung in the premium segment.
The new regulatory changes will also bring services like Apple Care+ to India.
Apple Store Online will have a trade-in programme and financing options. There will special discounts for students and value-added serves like signature gift wrap and personalised engraving.
Apple will have “specialists” to guide customers in both English and Hindi through the online store.
The Cupertino-based tech giant is also planning to launch its first company-owned physical retail store in India in 2021.
