Mumbai: There has been a lot of talk over AR Rahman and his wife Saira Banu’s separation, as many linked the duo’s split up with bassist Mohini Dey.
In what seemed to be a strange coincidence, Mohini, who has been part of the world-renowned musician’s troupe and performed with him in numerous concerts, announced her separation with husband Mark Hartsuch within hours of Saira and Rahman’s separation announcement after 29 years of marriage.
Mohini herself sought to clear the air on the rumours about link-up with Rahman, while the Oscar-winning music maestro has sent a legal notice to defamers, asking hatemongers and sharers of abusive contents to remove the objectionable content.
Now, Saira has broken her silence on the matter.
Dismissing all kinds of rumours, Saira revealed the main reason behind their separation in an official audio clip.
Saira says in the viral audio that she has not been keeping well for the last couple of months, and is currently in Mumbai.
“That’s the reason I just wanted to take a break from AR. But I would request the entire YouTube, YouTubers, and the Tamil media, please, please do not say anything bad against him. He’s a gem of a person. The best man in the world. Yes, it’s just because of my health issues that I had to leave Chennai. Because I knew if I was not in Chennai, you people would wonder where Saira is. And I’ve come here to Bombay. I’m going ahead with my treatment. And this couldn’t have been possible,” Saira has said.
Calling Rahman an ‘amazing’ human being, Saira added: “With AR’s busy schedule in Chennai, I didn’t want to disturb anybody – neither my children nor him. But he’s an amazing human being and all I would request is please just let him be the way he is. He is not linked with anyone. I trust him with my life. That’s how much I love him and that’s how much he does. So I kindly request you to stop all the false allegations against him.
“God bless and my sincere prayers that we are left alone and given a space at this moment not announced officially anything yet. I’ll be coming back to Chennai soon. But I have to complete my treatment and then come. Okay, so request you to kindly stop tarnishing his name, which is absolutely rubbish and like I said he’s a gem of a person. Thank you,” is how Saira Banu signed off.
She left many wondering whether her words meant the couple will be back together once she is back in Chennai.
