New Delhi: The sanctioning procedure of pension, the final disbursement, delays on the part of the bank or the pension disbursing offices delay in submitting a life certificate – all these are just a handful of problems that pensioners face.
Although such problems have been addressed by the central bank and government agencies and there are also designated portals where a person can lodge a complaint, many pensioners are not aware of these facilities.
RBI has also underlined that there have been complaints that life certificates submitted over the counter of pension-paying branches are misplaced causing delays in the payment of monthly pensions. In order to alleviate the hardships faced by pensioners, agency banks (banks in which the pensioner holds an account) were instructed by RBI to mandatorily issue duly signed acknowledgements, reports News18.
Following several complaints from pensioners alleging inordinate delay in disbursing revised pension and arrears, RBI had advised the agency banks:
