Nabarangpur: Eight armed miscreants decamped with Rs 14 lakh and gold jewellery from the house of a businessman at Bhalukandi village under Jharigaon police limits in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district late on Sunday.
According to sources, the miscreants entered the house of one Amiya Kumar Das around 1 am by breaking the lock on the main door. Das woke up startled to find the miscreants around him brandishing swords. They then tied up Das’ hands, put a sword to his neck and rummaged through the house. They snatched his phone away before fleeing with the cash and valuables.
Das later managed to free himself and sought help from his neighbours. Upon receiving information, local police reached the spot and started an investigation. The robbers reportedly spoke in Hindi, suggesting that the gang was from outside the state.
