Cuttack: Armed miscreants threatening businessmen and looting them at gunpoint appeared to have become a routine affair on the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar road via Trisulia Bridge.
In a fresh incident, some miscreants robbed one Basanta Lenka, a businessman of Sana Mundali village under Cuttack district on Monday. Threatening him with a gun, the miscreants reportedly robbed him of Rs 5,000 cash.
Just a day earlier, another local trader was allegedly robbed of Rs 10,000. That was a similar loot pattern seen the day before, when two businessmen of Godisahi were targeted and looted. The series of loot incidents have triggered panic among the locals.
Police sources said, one businessman, who was looted by the robbers, was on his way to Cuttack to bring fish for business purposes. At least three bike-borne miscreants attacked him and apprehended him. They threatened him with a gun and snatched his valuables.
The series of robbery incidents on the route have created terror among local business community. Despite repeated robberies, the police are yet to make any arrest, lamented local residents.
