Jajpur: In a broad daylight robbery, armed robbers looted gold ornaments from a jewellery showroom in Odisha’s Jajpur district at gun point on Monday.
Preliminary reports said that seven armed dacoits stormed the jewellery showroom located at Vyasanagar town in the district and reportedly decamped with all the ornaments.
The gun-wielding miscreants reportedly attacked the showroom staff, some customers and also the security staff while threatening them during the robbery. Two employees have been injured in the attack by the miscreants.
The miscreants snatched the weapon of the showroom guard and later held the staff and other customers present at the spot hostage. The dacoity took place between 1:30 pm and 2 pm.
The dacoits entered the showroom posing as customers and then threatened the staff and customers. When some staff tried to resist the miscreants, they were assaulted.
Senior officials, including Jajpur SP reached the showroom and launched an investigation.
The robbers were stated to have taken away some mobile phones and hard disk of the CCTV cameras.
