Malkangiri: In a major breakthrough, security personnel on Monday busted an illegal arms manufacturing unit inside the forest near Kuruba and Sudhakunta villages, under Kalimela police limits of Malkangiri district.
Malkangiri SP Rishikesh Khilari informed that acting on a tip-off, the BSF and the District Voluntary Force (DVF) launched a joint combing operation in the forest area and found out the arms manufacturing unit.
“We suspect that the Maoists had set up this illegal unit for manufacture and repair of arms and explosives,” the SP added.
He further said that the left-wing extremists, who were active in Kalimela area, have fled to the interior area of Chitrakonda after the deployment of the BSF personnel.
