Army Jawan Dies 4 Days After Being Attacked By Miscreants In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: An army jawan, who was critically injured in an attack by miscreants in Odisha’s Ganjam district four days ago, died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

According to sources, the jawan was identified as J Dileshwar of Kalipalli village under the jurisdiction of Chamakhandi police station in Ganjam district.

As per an FIR lodged with the police, Dileshwar was posted in Durgapur in West Bengal and had come home on leave around a week ago.

The jawan was allegedly assaulted by some miscreants while returning home from Gopalpur after watching a cricket match on Sunday. The incident reportedly took place at Haripur street under Chamakhandi area.

He was rushed to a hospital in Berhampur and later shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar as his condition deteriorated. However, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Police said one person has been detained in connection with the incident and investigation is in progress.
