New Delhi/Paradip: Odisha native Major Prabhanjan Padhy of Indian Army was conferred with Sena Medal (gallantry) during Army Day parade in New Delhi, recently.
The 30-year-old received the gallantry award from President Droupadi Murmu.
Major Padhy had exhibited exceptional courage in anti-terrorism operations while serving as the Company Commander of a Rashtriya Rifles Battalion in Jammu and Kashmir. He crawled his way to eliminate terrorists without causing harm to civilians or casualties among his men during a intense firefight.
His father, Basant Padhy, is working as manager Paradeep Phosphates Ltd.
Notably, the President had approved 412 Gallantry awards, including six Kirti Chakras and 15 Shaurya Chakras for Armed Forces personnel and others on the eve of the 74th Republic Day, last year.
